Volvo V70 Engine rumble / rough idle
 

Hi I have a Volvo V70 2.4 diesel that has developed a rumble noise when starting engine. At times there has also been a bad fuel smell. It is also noisy/rough when idle. No problem starting up car. When travelling car feels as though it is being held back when rumbling noise is present but then it frees and the engine flys no rumble noise, still noisy rough idle. Been into garage linked to computer no faults found. It feels as though something is sticking or getting blocked. Car seems to be getting worst rather than improving. Any ideas appreciated, thanks.
