Towball
 

Iv just bought a 2008 xc90 that has detachable towbar the towball part is missing is there any way I can find out which one i need it's a volvo factory towbar from new

Bummer ... check the plate on the towbar (you may need to get under the car to see the plate,) it will tell you the manufacturer, if its a genuine Volvo bar then it will be Thule, or Brink .... but you may get some help from your dealer. If its another manufacturer then talk to their customer service or check eBay always lots for sale.

Towball is sometimes in the boot under the (removable) floor plate on the riight side in a blue bag.

Hi, is there a cover on the tow bar 'spigot'?

If so can you post a picture of this and the spigot?

If it is same as mine (factory fitted), the cover will be on two parts, one that covers the spigot and one that covers the whole assembly.

On mine the towbar is in a blue bag as Dave says. The bag has operating instructions printed on it.

I found a plate on the towbar it's a volvo brink towbar part number 31213719 tried putting it in online still can't find the towball part being to think I mite need go to volvo for it

If your Volvo dealer cant help, then contact Brink/Thule customer service, they may be able to help. Brink is owned by Thule.

I had this same problem no detachable tow ball Brink/Thule made and Volvo would not sell me just the ball hitch, It was compleat tow bar or nothing, So in the end got witter tow bar fitted as you can buy replacement ball for those direct from witter. Hope this helps, And hope you are lucky and find one.
