PV 544 Fan Motor

Hi All,

I'm looking for a 12-Volt Fan Motor in good working Order for my '65 PV 544 Sport.

Does anyone have a spare on their workshop shelf by any chance, please .....?!

Thanks

I have just fitted a fan from an MX5, an idea I got from someone on a facebook group, not as simple as he said, but for £10 (e-bay), and a couple of hours messing about, I now have a fan that works.

Does the MX5 fan draw air in from the top? That seems less than ideal for all sorts of reasons. Maybe this could be a better choice. (I have seen Chevrolet S10 ones mentioned too) Looks very neat and has its own squirrel cage. The fan really needs to match the size of the original can but that could be adapted, or the original fan swapped over.

The original fan was swapped over, as the Mazda one is bigger diameter, and spacer made so fan is in original position. Also swapped wires round as fan veins are facing the opposite way.

That Matiz one does look better. Maybe next time?

I need a new fan motor for my Amazon. A very noisy bearing on the one I've got.

I will look at the Chevrolet one as a replacement. But any tips for removing the cage from my existing one? It seems to be held in place by a grub screw which is seized and not easy to get at. Before I buy a longer drill bit I'm not missing something obvious am I?

Fan Motor - Eureka !

Thanks, All, for the suggestions.

Have managed to find a good used 12V Fan Motor, so I'm now sorted.

Also , FYI, 'Scandcar' offer refurbished ones on a 'Refundable Core Charge' Basis .

Happy PVing !

No, you're not missing anything, it's just the grub screw. The Chevrolet one looks as though it may go straight on though, cage and all.
