Anyone got a towbar electrics schematic?
It might sound daft but I'm wondering how to get the nearside rear foglight working on my S40 as I'm not a fan of single lights. The options seem to be:
1) Run a wire from the offside light (probably not a good idea!) having found a connector (four wires) by the nearside rearlights, which might be for towing electrics(?) 2)Use this connector, in some way, for the nearside rear foglight. This spare connector is not mentioned in the wiring diagram so if its for towbar electrics I need a schematic for the same (without the expense of buying the towbar electrics)..... |
If you do a search on our web site on "towbar electrics" you will find a few pages on it.

Rear Fog
You will find the rear fog lamp wire (blue) in the n/s wiring harness near the rear lamp and the extra plug you mentioned. It will be exposed and looped along with two other wires. you can 'tee' into this. You will possibly also find that the actual bulb holder is not internally wired up for the extra fog lamp so you will have to get another drivers side bulb holder to go in the passenger side (they are not handed).

Progress......
Bob/Paul,
Thanks, I'd searched the forum but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for before I posted the question. Paul has confirmed my suspicion that the long loop of blue was the foglamp feed. Paul, is this blue just a loop en-route to the offside lamp or is there an end somewhere nearby? I don't want to chop it and find I've killed the off side lamp :-( I've had a look at the bulb holder and the link appears to be there though I have yet to put a meter on it for confirmation |

I had looked at those but I wasn't sure regarding the wires by the nearside rear lights i.e. the other end of the wires connected to the towbar socket.
