s40 2.0d tuning

i have been told by people on the ford focus owners club that the st intercooler is a direct fit for the 2.0tdci focus, which i have been told is the same engine as the s40 2.0d.

i know of one guy that had tuned his focus to 200bhp and 400lbft!

does anyone know if the st225 intercooler is definately a direct fit?

Intercooler and software.

I have an ST standard intercooler here which you could try, it came off my own car which I have modified considerably.

However, I very much doubt that it would make much difference to your car as the standard one should be more than adequate for a modest hike in outputs.

I can offer you MTE's premium Swedish written software for your car for £435 including VAT that raises the outputs to 165bhp with 400nm of very usefull torque acrioss a wide rev. range.

Regards, Don.

Don, is yours a 2.0D? Could you let us know us know or myself via pm if you don't want everyone knowing what mods you have done? I'd very much love 200hp from mine. I'd imagine that the diesel ST intercooler is the same as the one fitted to the S40? I did see somewhere on here that someone had fitted an uprated intercooler for a T5 onto the 2.0D?

Don is just a MTE tuner, don't think he has an S40.

Well what ever car it is that he has "modified considerably" if it's a Volvo and guessing he is a tuner then I'd imagine he'd know if 200hp is achievable from the 2.0D....

Well Don stated he could tune it to 165BHP. Why would you want to tune it further, it will just struggle. How much money do you want to spend, you can do anything but there surely is a limit.

Buy a D5 or T5 and tune it if your looking for high BHP and torque in my opinion.

as an ex focus driver and owners club member, i spoke to a couple of people about the 2.0tdci, they said that 200 is fine to achieve, any more and you may need to start looking at clutch etc

ill try and trace the thread and find out exactly what he did to it!

thanks for the offer but i was just wondering about it, nothing id like to try just yet :P

I've seen other tuners offer more than 165 and in my opinion £400+ for 30 bhp is a tad dear? I may be wrong but know I've seen others offer more for the same price. And personally I balive the engine can achieve alot more than that. I'd be happy with a safe 180/190 without putting too much strain on the engine pushing 200.

Cheers benr, if you could find that post that would be great :)

benr7310 Nov 16th, 2011 23:12

found it!

from what they say, uprated intercooler, exhaust and air filter and a custom map should easily see you up to 190-200, 210 is the max in terms of fuel pump, injectors and they wouldnt want to push the clutch much past 210.

so its deffo achievable :)

benr7310 Nov 16th, 2011 23:13

im getting mine mapped on monday, 178 bhp for £300 :)
