1992 240 Estate
Chaps,
I've given this a lot of thought but I think it might be time to let my 240 go to a new, more loving home. I'd love to hang on to the car but I don't have the time to do the few bits that are needed to get an MOT and, if I did, I'll soon have nowhere to store it. Plus I'm also not convinced I can justify keeping a project car when I have so many other projects to finish! With that in mind I was wondering if there was any interest on this forum before I approach the larger world? The car is as follows: 1991 Volvo 240 Estate @ 193K miles B230F in good condition Electric fan conversion 100A 940 alternator New plugs, leads and rotor cap in January 2019 New radiator in September 2018 New all round discs, pads and handbrake shoes January 2019 New lambda sensor April 2019 New Cam belt June 2017 Recon PAS rack June 2017 Front wishbone rear polybushes replaced June 2018 90k mile M47 fitted in October 2018 with recon dogdish flywheel, new clutch, balanced propshaft, new centre bearing and new pilot bearing Flametrap cleaned and replaced June 2018 (obviously essential) New Battery in 2017 Both fuel pumps replaced in August 2017 New headlight reflectors October 2015 New CAT-back exhaust June 2018 New pressed number plates June 2018 New Cam cover gasket January 2019 New front wheel bearings April 2019 Plenty of rust work done in the last few years and nothing in any MOT areas but the passenger door and rear door could do with being looked at New handbrake cables required for an MOT New inner tie rod required to solve an annoying clunk (supplied with the car) Some trim missing on the nearside (supplied with the car) The previous owner had fitted an after market stereo which sometimes works but mostly doesn't and I didn't have time to hunt down electrical gremlins The push button to reset the trip counter broke on the journey to park the car up which is really, really annoying. I'm guessing it's a faffy but easy fix which I, again, never had time to do. Could do with a new coolant temperature sensor as the current one has a habit of randomly dropping out The car had a tough life before I got hold of it but, as you can see, I've put a lot of work in to keeping it going. This would be the perfect restoration project for someone with some time on their hands or a good run around bus for someone who can put in the upkeep work which I don't have time for. I'm in Portsmouth and the car's currently SORN'd at my Dad's house on the Isle of Wight but I'd be happy to put some tax on it for a pick up in Portsmouth. The car's J972 JDL and has MOT until February 2020 so I'd like to sell before then if anyone's interested. Feel free to drop me a message if you've got any questions. Pictures to follow after I visit this weekend. £1750 ONO Cheers Alex |
