Euro 4 and ulez

Hi another post from me... Two in a week ;-)

Ok...V70 petrol....2005 model.... However on a 54 plate and registered in October 2004

I'm in North London... Outside of the A406... Though with and family had me travel inside of the A406 almost daily

And ULEZ is coming to the extended North/South circular zone next year

As part of existing central London congestion charge my V70 is exempt/compliant so only one charge not two if I go into Central London (which is rare)

However extended ULEZ... And Euro 4 emissions... And a petrol V70 registered in late 2004....

It seems the same car/same engine build 01 January 2005 onwards on compliant and one registered before, even a few months... same engine and all....is not compliant....does anyone know??

And if not compliant....or not Euro 4.... What does that make it... Euro 3? From what I read Euro 3 are not allowed to drive in the Zone!!!

Though my 1970 144 is exempt!!! I can almost smell the petrol from a carburettor B20 engine without a cat as I write this.....

Or.... Further reading.... Have I confused lez with ULEZ

And ULEZ is central London/congestion charge zone

And it's lez which extends to North/South circular and that's for heavy vehicles/over 3.5 tonnes

And TfL seem to say if you meet current standard will you meet new standard

Did i misread originally or am I now misreading... It's coffee time!!

SEARCH FOR DVLA CO2 DATA, plumb in your date of registration etc on that and it will tell you what EURO it is

Kevin_L Jul 9th, 2020 10:33

Thanks

The DVLA were not really any good about what the vehicle is only if it's currently compliant

I got the answer from HPI Checker who are providing this for free

It's EURO 4 by the way....

So I assume it will be compliant with the forthcoming ULEZ?

Have you tried entering your registration number in the link below to check?

https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/che...-vehicle-35896

Kevin_L Jul 10th, 2020 01:52

I'll have a look at that one

The DVLA site only send to tell you if your vehicle is currently compliant with the existing zone

It doesn't seem to say if it will be compliant even ULEZ comes

It does seem to suggest that petrol vehicles that are Euro 4 will be compliant and then says this is generally for vehicles registered from January 2006 (or was it January 2005??)

Either way, mine is a 2005 MY model but registered late 2004....

This other site said.... Based on reg number.... That it's Euro4

So do I assume ULEZ compliant??

London ULEZ Extension

I am in a similar position , but i live 1 mile inside the North/South Circular , so when the zone is extended (originally scheduled for mid 2021) I would have to pay the charge every day.

My car is a little later than yours a 2006 model, which is Euro 4. If you put your reg number into the Transport for London website
(https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/che...-vehicle-35896)
it will indicate whether it is compliant. Mine is, so big relief.

Sorry did not see that this link has already been posted above.

My fun car, and my wife's car are not so we face a pretty big bill for renewing 2 vehicles which are still going strong and we planned to keep for many years yet.

I'll try again... The site is offline fit maintenance at the moment!!

I've got a1997 'fun' car...not compliant....

Though I can drive 1970 144 into the zone....

barrybritcher Jul 11th, 2020 10:43

I've got a euro 4 petrol but it says im not ULEZ???? LOL

barrybritcher Jul 11th, 2020 10:44

ah looks like they are using an old database, my cars personal plate is showing my old 2.3 euro 3 car, I used the original plate and it correctly shows euro4.

wonder why they arent using a live database
