Torque setting?
I have just replaced the rear seal on an M40 gearbox and need to know what the torque is for the nut holding the prop shaft flange to output shaft, thanks in advance.

I had a look in manual and there is no info. It's a ny'-locknut if I'm not mistaken.probably same torque as a wheel nut.To be safe I would a new replacement if available.

Nut
Mine has a castle nut and split pin. As long as it is tightened secure and a new split pin fitted it will be fine. The seal makes contact with the flange on the outer part so torque is irrelevant as regards a good seal.

Thanks Chris, this one has a self locking nut and I needed a puller to get the flange off. I tightened it but not sure its gone all the way back on the splines, will just do it up tight.
