2017 Xc90 timing belt. (Sorry if Im wrong place. 1st post)
 

Hi.
I am looking into buying a 2017 (66) D5 R-design. the one I have seen has 78,000 on the clock.
I have looked online and can’t see much on the belt interval of the facelifts not a great deal of info on the belts in general tbh.

I was wondering if anyone has any info they could share on the subject.

I think it's something daft, like 120k or 150k miles, I can't remember what my Dad said. If you go to look at the car the handbook will confirm it.

D5s cambelt changes are usually 10 years or 108k miles, whichever soonest. Or, at least mine is anyway.

It's not the 5 cylinder D5 engine - all the SPA engines are 4 cylinder, a totally unrelated unit.

Its 150,000 miles or 10 years, whichever comes first.

If it is the new 4 cylinder D5 then Cambelt is 90000 miles or 10 years which ever comes first .

(It was 144000 miles / 10 years up to May last year when all were reduced to 90000 miles )

I am supposed to pick my 17 plate D5 up next week. The garage (not Volvo)have just informed me they have found an oil leak from the bell housing.

I know nothing about cars. Should I be worried/give it a miss. Or is it a Fairly routine job to fix that’s shouldn’t give me any future worries?

If it's from the crank seal it's a biggish job.

I would walk away , its not a good idea for people not familiar with these new design volvo cars to tamper with them .. it could come away with other faults .

It is probably the cam cover leaking , which could have other implications .

A Volvo of that age and complexity in a non volvo garage for sale will always be a worry ... why did the previous owner get rid of it in a way like that, where a non volvo garage could get hold of it ... ?

Pay a few more £1000 and get a volvo selekt used car ..

I'd agree with Clan on this one. Pay a bit more and go for a Volvo Selekt car, for peace of mind if nothing else.
