Infotainment Audio Fault
 

Hi forum.

My Volvo has developed a fault with the infotainment system. After being on for a while. The system keeps letting out a rather loud "bleep/buzz" which cuts out everything, and then it resumes. The bleep/buzz will then not go away and will keep happening every 10-20 seconds or so. The only way to stop it seems to be to switch the car off for a few hours, but the problem returns every time sooner or later after a period of driving. It would seem with the hotter weather it is happening within about 10 mins of the car starting.

You will see that it happens on any of the audio inputs, including the radio and CD, Sat Nav instruction etc.

I have disconnected an ancillary items such as dash cams etc, and I have also tried removing the connectors from the audio unit under the drivers seat and blowing them out to make sure they are not dusty. I've got nothing plugged in via USB or Aux so there is nothing external that I feel could cause this.

I'm guessing that this is a circuitry problem, perhaps a capacitor in the system getting hot during playback, compounded by the recent hot weather.

I've put this post up on the off-chance that anyone else may have had this problem, and if so, how you managed to get it resolved. I'm a high millage driver, so to have this problem is quite depressing for me!
