"S" and "W" Switches

Hi all, What are those for?

Thanks!

RE: "S" and "W" Switches

I guess you're referring to the auto gearbox? If so, they represent 'Sport' and 'Winter' modes.
The sport mode will hold the gearchange longer and kickdown sooner than in normal driving mode.
The winter mode will start off in a higher gear to prevent wheel slip in icy conditions.

RE: "S" and "W" Switches

I have them on mine (1998, 2.0T CD), and as mentioned they refer to "S"port and "W"inter. Sport mode will rev higher, and change later, and give a more aggressive kick-down when you hit the throttle hard. In Winter mode the gearbox will change earlier, minimising sharp torque increases to the wheels which would otherwise cause wheel spin - it will also pull away from standstill in 2nd gear, rather than 1st.

HOWEVER, in my car, I refer to them as Standard and W*nk :)
