Insurance quotes

So the past two years I’ve paid around £400/£450 for fully comp insurance that’s with a £250 total excess
Cheapest quote for this year is £676 with £1700 excess hahaha are they joking? Sadly not

I was paying £460 last year and this year The cheapest I could find was £850 and that was Online only so if I had any problems I could not speak to anyone and everything had to be done by email which is not acceptable to me.

I decided to go with Volvo insurance which is about £1000, my sister has had the same problem Her insurance was £360 but now £850.

£253 this year with the AA, £3 cheaper than last year with Direct Line, who this year wanted £406 off me.

When I renewed my XC90 insurance last November it cost me £166.84, then when I bought the V70 in February I got a 62p refund, this year my insurance has went up from £166.22 to £227.75. I did the usual check on the comparison sites and they were all nearer £400. I do wonder if we have all been suckered into using comparison sites now and they've got us over a barrel

One factor in this is when you get your quotes. I thought it was a myth, but getting quotes for my son as he was looking to buy a car shortly after passing his test proved it to me. Around 3 weeks before, we were getting better quotes on almost identical cars, but when we bought him one and had to insure that day, it resulted in an increase of around £300 to £1860. Most people chasing renewals should be able to get quotes 3 weeks out.

My quote won't help you in any way, every quote depends on your own personal circumstances, where you live, what you drive etc. I'm currently with Aviva for a second year.

I decided to try a comparison site today just to see if anything had changed since my last quote in November and the price is up another £36 in 5 weeks from my lowest comparison site quote. This was to insure my V70 from 27th December so as to not get a last minute quote

Funnily enough I've just had my multicar quote through this morning....

Hi 4x4 i know that, i just wanted to know as the price seems good as all ins seems to have jumped up, mine is not cheap as i have all of my mods to my car listed and i have found that a lot of ins comp do not do ins for modded cars,
as i have a remap, springs and shocks all round, front and rear, top and under car braces, ect,
4x4 your posts are very good and is that your own lift ? thats great,
Thanks Dave

Our V70 cost just over £250 in January. Today, without waiting for a renewal notice, I did an online quote and they want £430; a hike of over 58%. I also did quick quotes via Comparethemarket (£350) and Confused.com (£516). Curiously, the latter asked me if I had any health conditions on the DVLA list that I ought to tell them about. I've had mild hypertension for about 15 years, but I don't recall being prompted in this way when obtaining quotes in previous years. There's a nice 4-page form on the government website to print, fill and submit. Enough to give you hypertension if you didn't have it already.
