Lowering springs 940-945

Will lowering springs from a 945 fit a 940?

classicswede Sep 18th, 2018 23:53

As a 945 is a 940 the answer is yes

The 5 just refers to the number of doors.

In the USA they generally say 944 for the saloon and 945 for the estate, similarly 744 and 745 for the 7 series. For some reason we don’t and just say 740/940 saloon and estate. Same with the 200 series as well.
The second number refers to the amount of cylinders eg 940 and 960.

(Doesn't apply to the 300 series! ;) )
The Yanks did something "well" and called their 960 Turbo a 940 SE (which was completely different to the European SE!) to mirror the number of cylinders ;)

Cheers

You can also have the 760 turbo that is only the 4 cylinder and 960's were available with the B204FT. The the 780 had just about every engine but no 8 cylinder
