Happy New Year to all. Hope all are well and safe.

Its been a long time since a came for your knowledge.
But today something happen that I cant understand.

Today I started my girl. She has been stop for almost two weeks but every other day I let her run for 10/15 min. She has been faultless last month she had her MOT and she had 4 new tyres, both lower control arms and new brakes. She flew through the MOT

Today I had to go shopping and she is quarter tank so I though it would be a good time to re fuel her.

I starter her up and she start it no problem. She run for 15 min. And off we go.
I was about 2 miles from home and there was a slow car in front so I step on it to over take it. After the over take the yellow triangle came up and the messages engine service came up and after 1 or 2 seconds was gone. 20 seconds later the car just shut off.

I stop and try to restart her and nothing. she cranks really fast like there is no fuel....

When you turn the key for pos 1 you can ear the back pump working. But then you crank and nothing it cranks really fast but no start.
There is nothing in the engine like leaks or smell like fuel.
I dc the battery for 10 min and I tried again and nothing

I really don't know what happen and what to do usually if I have problems at least the car runs and I can read it with VIDA

Now I don't have any idea

I think it might be fuel related. usually when a car cranks to fast and doesn't start.....

I checked the timing, and its still there...I cranked the engine with the oil cap off and it rotates, belt it was done 18k ago.

When I say fast cranking maybe is just me because its cranking without starting.
It doesn't sound like it was a free starter motor

Could it be a blocked fuel filter?

This fuel filter has maybe less than 500 miles it was replaced before going to MOT. November.
I know that new parts can fail. but....
The strange is she was running like a clock until that step down to overtake

Check the left and right fuel level readings in the REM.
The litres reading for both should be almost the same so if there's a big difference, that suggests a problem with transferring fuel from one side of the tank to the other.

I know, it is kind of a disliked standard mantra, sorry! :) Get the codes read with VIDA... ;)

If you had the engine light lit, there should be an error code stored, at least for that. You can check the fuel with VIDA as well.

It doesn't make sense, if you can't see something obvious, to guess along.

VIDA is "free of charge", and if you only buy a dice (or a substitute) you are around 100.- GBP. Here on this forum are some users, that sell these, eg. Cheshired5. Take a look into the "Sales" section of the V70 (click here)

check that you put in the correct fuel its a common problem easily done.

Fuel is correct. I didn't had time to put more so it was the diesel it was there before I towed the car home

Car doesn't run so VIDA ….

Its worth to try the REM or even any fuses....

It was very strange on take over the other car I was at max 3200 RPM so it wasn't that high

I really don't know what happen and what to do

It could be one of so many things... Even wrong air intake could be a reason (a slipped hose eg).

VIDA is one of many parts to find the error...
