hi went to put car onto the vida today and couldn't get it to work .
when I plugged it in the firmware status light flashes
bluetooth light flashed
vehicle interface status lit
pressed start but it wouldn't do anything to get vehicle details .
so i pressed on software tab and get message "software download manager failed to load " as in pictures the information & diagnostics tabs are not usable .
I need to get the car on to it as I have problem with it after replacing the cylinder head

Why go from Start to Software?
If you want to read the vehicle details, go to Vehicle Profile.
Even by trial and error and clicking on different tabs, you can start to work out Vida.

Because it wont communicate with the car for a reason I don't know ?. It wont allow the diagnostics tab to work

Not sure if this will help but the odb port has a fuse. I blew mine plugging in a code reader. I believe the fuse is in the panel to the right of the dash (rhd).

you may be more converse with Vida than me, but last week I hooked up my friends XC70 and couldn't get info or diagnostics.

I had not selected the correct country/region. It needed the Europe region selecting as a opposed to Saudi/Arab region.

That rectified the issue for me.

There was no mention of this in your original description of the problem.
You said that you tried to read the car from the Start section.
A clear screenshot of the Vehicle Profile screen when the problem occurs would be useful.

Try it with a little patience and give VIDA time to react. ;)

1. Start the PC new, not resume, not suspending or whatever that is called on Windows, you start fresh! SQL is known for being picky, especially if the database is huge (yes, VIDA is a huge database)
2. Wait for VIDA to turn green in status bar! Yes, that takes time, depending on your PC. And yes, you will have to wait, otherwise some files won't get loaded... ;)
3. If VIDA shows green,you are good to go, start the browser (Vida-All-in-one)
4. Put in your user and press enter to login - WAIT. Do not click or try or whatever, just wait.
5. It opens the "Start" page in Vida, here you wait until all points are shown (especially "define vehicle profile") AND the iso viewer is loaded.
6. Now you go to "vehicle profile", not "start", not "software".
7. There you should find your car, if you have ever read it with VIDA, or you can push "READ VEHICLE" if totally new.
8. If your car is already listed, click the radio button for it
9. Now all your car data should be filled in, check if "Partner group" is correct otherwise change it.
10. If some fields are not filled in, you set these. Especially "Body Style" and "Transmission" are necessary. Choose these fields and press "ok".
11. Now you are ready to work with VIDA and your car. Without the correct settings it will most likely not do very well. :D

So to sum it up, yes, it will need some time to start things and it will take time for VIDA to react. This is a software that was build around the end of the nineties....last century you know... ;) The use case for Volvo and a normal dealer will be to start VIDA in the morning and use it until you shut it off in the evening. Take your time and if in doubt, better wait a few seconds or minutes before you click around and send messages to an already busy server at your localhost.

dont think its the obd fuse as when I plug it into obd port the lights on the dice illuminate.
when vida all in one open and dice connected to port via obd and to tablet via usb cable the firmware status light flashes no USB com status light no bluetooth light and vehicle interface status light flashes .
on the vehicle identification page the box that normally has the dice number in is empty [not recognising the dice ?] I get a message of "object doesnt support property or method diagnosticallowed" this message appears once ive manully entered the vehicle details and click ok

i think i,m suffering from the common "NO COMMUNICATION TOOL" problem which i have no idea on how to correct so if anyone can help i,d appreciate it as i desperately need to get the car on to it
its a linex tablet running windows 10 .
i bought it off Binty on here it worked fine the first couple of times i put it onto the car . then i used it as a stand alone [not connected to car] to find torque settings ect wile doing the cylinder head change .
plugged car in 2 days ago and no luck it wont find the dice .
if some one can fix i dont mind giving a few beer tokens [ cant afford a lot tho cylinder head replacement after belt failure has completely emptied the pot]
