Fault when entering radio code.

Hi all having recently recharged my battery i am having an unusual fault while trying to enter my radio code ( which i have done many times before). I enter the first two numbers on the keys and they are ok, i then try and enter the third number which is a 5 and the key doesent produce it, it produces 2 or 4 but not 5. Has any one encountered this fault before. off course i get the usual off message and then have to wait 2 hours before i can try and reset it. Get you thinking caps on lads i need help, and thanks.

I've seen this happen before and I think I managed to engage # 5 by pressing along the right side of the button as opposed to direct centre. It's probably due to poor contacts on the circuit board and may benefit from removal of the front panel and dosing it in contact cleaner.

Hi all, Baffler thanks for your thoughts, much appreciated, actually I have sorted the problem by using the point of a ballpoint pen and pressing the buttons on the radio right in the centre of the key pad. Having fingers likve pork sausages haven't helped. Anywho radio now up and running. Thanks to all.

Hear we go again.

Morning all, that dam no five key raises its ugly head again, when entering the Radio code its producing a random number and not the number five as it should, no matter how i press the number five key. Pulling it out and investigating later today. In the meantime any idea as to a fix lads all replies apreciated. thanks all.

I would remove the front panel from the unit and dose it with electical contact cleaner a few times in the area rear of the buttons, shake out the excess and leave it to dry for a couple of hours, before reassembly, or use a fan or cool hairdryer if you're in a rush.

It's not that difficult to remove the front facia panel...a couple or screws, release tabs and the wire harness ribbon just pulls out the board connection.

Front off, awaiting switch cleaner, no ribbon? in sight though Baffler.

Oh...ok...yours is an SC-805?

When you removed the front panel can you see an array of mini switches? If so just give them all a good dosing/soaking with cleaner.

The ribbon is probably to the rear and connects that front circuit board to the main circuit board.

Yes SC 805, all those switches are independent of each other though, cant see how it produces other random numbers (1-6) though. thanks Liam.

The wonders of that phenomenon known as electricity  Years of heating and cooling cycles, throw in some dust and the odd coke or coffee spill, will have their effect on the contacts. There's no guarantee cleaning will sort it but it's always worth a try against the cost of replacement.

The X70 window master switch another prime suspect for unusual electrical behaviour.
