Many apologies i have crossed my emails over. The email from gavin at lookers volvo. I assumed it was your colleague. If it is not your dealership i am sorry. Are you and gavin colleagues or not?

FRF WERE NOT THE PEOPLE WHO WERE USELESS IT WAS LOOKERS VOLVO. I APOLOGISE UNRESERVEDLY TO SIMON.

I have just had a reply to the PM sent to me.

We have NEVER given S80T60James a quote for anything.

He sent his message and had his reply from someone called Gavin.

There is NO Gavin working at FRF Motors, or ever has been in the 12 years I have been here. No one here has given S80T60James any prices.

He sent me a message on 5th February asking for a price for ATF, I replied asking for an alternative registration number or his VIN number as his registration number was not recognised by the Volvo database and he has never even replied to that.

To make it clear the above post was not in any way related to us at FRF MOTORS. I hope we can now move on from this and carry on once again as there has obviously been some sort of misunderstanding, as I have no idea who Gavin is?

Lyron, special tools do not have retail prices set by Volvo, it is up to each dealership to sell them for a price they choose, and many will not sell them at all. If someone else sold them at a similar price to us then fair enough, I can't control anyone else's prices. Generally from what I have seen where other dealerships sell tools they like to double the price they buy them at, but not here. We gave you your full refund before Christmas as the item was lost in the post as you know, I could not do any more than that (we are still in the process of claiming off the Royal Mail believe it or not). We only offer no obligation quotes, and ALWAYS offer discounts.

We have no connection with anyone called Gavin, or Lookers Volvo.

Thank you for clearing this up.

Think twice, post once!

Guys - shall we zap this, since it's all proven to be a mix-up?

cheers

James

Please just leave it there James, as I do not want people who may have seen part of it thinking something has been hidden by us, better left there now as all is explained and it was nothing to do with us.

I agree though, more care needs to be taken before any accusations are thrown around, please make sure you have the right person before posting reviews, good or bad!

Thank you all the same. :)

PHEW! Glad the mix-up was spotted nice and quick - crisis averted!

other wise i was expecting the other 58,402 members to descend on this thread

Glad as is well

@simon & co, keep up the fab work, thanks for the recent quote, managed to find some headlight housings down the local re-homing centre, might take you up on the reflectors soon, need to save some pennies

Hi, sorry to jump in, I emailed you for a price on a boost control valve..your price £55 plus 2.50 postage..local dealership (20 mins away) £36..sorry.

foggyjames Feb 22nd, 2011 01:50

Something sounds fishy there. FRF's pricing is usually reliably significantly cheaper than Darke's. I now only use Darke if I need something low-value, or super-urgently.

cheers

James

After discussing this with Beaconsman through email I found they have supplied him with a solenoid for a T4, T5 or T6 high pressure turbo petrol engine up to 1999, (part number 9155936 which is more like that price) but NOT the correct one for his 2000 model diesel engine. I had given the correct price for the correct part which happened to be a fair bit more than he was quoted locally, but I cant help that fact surely! I know that I would not be happy supplying the wrong turbo boost pressure control solenoid and I am unsure why they supplied that one?

My name is Simon and I have worked in the parts department at FRF Motors (a Volvo main dealer) for the best part of the last 10 years. I actually worked in a Nissan dealership parts department for a couple of years before here, selling parts. I have a genuine interest in cars and modifying, involving spending many weekends over the years at various meets and events of every type, camping or staying at most of the tracks around the country for various things. Luckily for me, my partner (lottie) is 100% as keen on cars as i am, belonging to many forums herself, and has allways been happy to join me.

I feel that the fact I have been a fairly big user of many forums over the last 5 or 6 years all helps me provide the service that I would expect to get if i was on the buying side of the equation. Main delaers tend to have a bad name i find, (sometimes it is justified of course, but not all times) and it can feel like an uphill batte at times trying to convince people that not everyone at every dealership is the enemy.

Working in a Volvo main dealer and being a big fourm user meant that eventualy the two came together. First of all i was allways able to offer any help or adivce that i could from the systems i use daily. Then i would sometimes get asked how much i could supply a certain part for, and i would sell a part here or there, though this then quickly snowballed in the amount that i was supplying through mail order, where today it is pretty much a full time job for me. I have the full backing for what I do, from the rest of the parts team in the dealership, though i tend to handle 99% of the enquiries myself. If you send me a message on this or any other site i use0 or to the email, it will allways be myself who is replying to you.

Over the years I have supplied countless parts to internet forum users, all of which have been given the maximum discount by us which varies from part to part. I take the cost price then add a small percentage to that price to hopefully make it the best possible price you will find for the genuine item, even after postage is added generally we will be cheaper than getting it locally. I haven't used gimmicks, I simply give the best possible price at all times.

I would like to add that I personaly have no financial gain from this, i do not make anything extra from this service, (as i have been asked on a few occassions). For me it really is a case of piles of extra work... lol (honest!) but i enjoy doing it and enjoy being able to provide this service to fellow volvo owners.

During normal office hours I am almost always available for help or to give prices for parts although I may not be able to reply to you outside working hours.

Please use this link for all of your parts enquiries:

**FRF MAIL ORDER PARTS ENQUIRIES**.....

and I will always reply at the first possible opportunity.

All quotes given will show the full Volvo retail price, the discounted price you will pay and the cost of postage clearly. I take the service we provide here (to all internet users) very seriously with it getting my priority at all times.

Please continue to use this thread to leave any feedback for our services, it all helps me to be able to continue with what I have been doing for longer I suppose!

Thanks to everyone who has used us past, present and future!

Many thanks

Simon :)
