Towng mirror recommendation please
Just about to buy a new caravan, 9 inches wider than my last one, so thinking I might need to use a door mirror extension mirror on my S90. Any recommendations? An old one I had last used on my 760 just slides off.
thanks! |
Milenco Grand Aero seem to always get highly recommended. I have a set, but havent tried them with our New XC90 as yet. Used them for 3 years on the previous Honda CRV with no problems at all.

Using Milenco Grand Aeros on my new XC60 ... also used then on previous V60 Cross Country and older XC60. Give a good view down the side of my 7ft 5 wide Swift Elegance.

I use Milenco Grand Aero mirrors on my XC90 but having changed to an 8 foot wide van have also got the extra long mirror arms to ensure a good view down the sides of the 'van.

Your caravan shop might let you try them for fit before you buy. |
I use the Milenco Aero ones on our XC60.
Excellent & highly recommended. Solid fixing and little vibration. I had the convex ones previously but now have the flat ones. Both great but I think the convex ones had the edge. Small tip. Just be careful with too much polish on the car mirrors. It will make the fixing slippery. Mike |
thanks to all for advice - sounds like Milenco is the way to go.

I do not tow with the XC90 but I can assure you that if your caravan does not exceed 6’6" wide, there is no need for extended mirrors on that vehicle. With a 7’ wide trailer or van, you might be pushing your luck. The S90 is the same width as the XC90. There also appears to be some confusion here as to what approximates the definition of ‘adequate’. According to the Caravan Club, it is this..... "Rather than giving a confusing (if technically) exact definition, a good approximation would be to say that for a typical car-caravan combination, you need to be able to see a zone at least 4-5m wider than the caravan at a distance of about 10-20m behind the caravan." So measure back from the trailer 10 to 20m [or any figure you like in between as it is not critical] parallel to the side and then out from there 4 to 5m. Stand there and ask a driver whether you can be seen by them when your mirror is properly adjusted so as to only just show a fraction of the side of your car or front corner of the trailer. Repeat for the other side. https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/media/...mirrors-mo.pdf . |
