1998 Volvo S70, 2.5 litre 10 v petrol manual. Silver

Approx. 76,000 miles. MOT to May 2018.

I bought it with full Volvo service history in 2011 with 28,000 miles on it. Dealer services had been performed annually for the prior 12 years at only 2,000 to 4,000 miles apart (the official service interval is 10,000 miles)! I have serviced it since then with oil and filter changes at around 5,000 miles.

Mechanically it is in good condition. It has a new battery, the two front tyres have done less than 2,000 miles and the rears are fine. Only genuine Volvo parts have been used for any maintenance. All receipts and records have been kept. It is mounted with alloy wheels and has additional spare steel wheels on which I have snow tyres mounted.

The exterior has a few bumper scrapes, a small dent on the offside front wing and some lacquer is peeling on the front nearside wing. The interior is 'Oak' colour, which is slightly darker than beige. The interior, like the exterior, is not cosmetically perfect. There are dings in the door cards and the stitching on the seat of the front seats has been repaired. Everything works so it is only cosmetics that are any issue.

In terms of what might need doing in the future, the front brake disks are half-worn. The cam belt will be due for replacement next year on a time basis (10 year service interval) but not on a mileage basis. Personally, I would keep running it on the existing belt and inspect it for deterioration every three months. On a recent drive the ABS light came on but has not come on again.

More pictures are available.

£500.

very similar to mine, looks very nice, great value. Good luck with the sale.

Thank you. Unfortunately I'm not getting any interest. Does anyone here know somebody who might be interested? Please let them know if so.

Thats almost as good as Volvettes 50,000 mile 850. A few cosmetic defects but £500 for 75,000 miler fully maintained.
If that were an estate people would be queing down the street.

I do know someone who should be interested and have passed it on. Her car broke down yesterday, could be very good timing.

Would you sell your steelies separately ?

Rick Barton Nov 21st, 2017 23:19

Yes no problem. The snow tyres need replacing. Sorry I didn't answer earlier, I don't seem to be getting alerts. I will try to check the thread and messages daily.

I hope a bump is acceptable. This is still for sale. Any offers?

volvoid Jan 4th, 2018 10:25

ok, I'll open the bidding at £100

Alpine Jan 4th, 2018 18:32

assume that's a joke!

Have you tried putting it on Gumtree for free. Or I think Autotrader is only £9.99 to advertise a car for sub-£1k.

As a last resort, even eBay with no reserve.

These cars are appreciating classics, and yours is low mileage. Looks nice in the pics. I'd put it on Autotrader and Gumtree at £600 and see what bites, looking to get at least your asking price of £500.
