Split in sidewall

Today while washing the car I noticed this split in the sidewall of the offside rear tyre. The car has only done 3000 miles and you can see the wheels have never been anywhere near a kerb. Would this be covered under warranty?

Thanks in advance.

you may find it very difficult to demonstrate that that is a manufacturing defect; if it is theres likely to be a whole batch of lethal tyres out there.

Far more likely to be a pothole, kerb, under inflation etc problem; and thats what the manufacturer will tell you

But try, y dont ask y dont get.

That looks like impact damage with the edge of a pot hole , you need to check the rim is not bent .. check the tyre pressure too , anything less than 38 psi is not good enough . preferably 40 psi . Higher the pressure the more protection you get against this sort of thing .

Thanks for the info. Didn't want to look a tit at Volvo dealer so have just bit the bullet and arranged for new tyre to be fitted on Monday. Hope its ok to drive on till then.
