FRF Motors (Volvo) Swansea

My name is Simon and I have worked in the parts department at FRF Motors (a Volvo main dealer) for the best part of the last 10 years. I actually worked in a Nissan dealership parts department for a couple of years before here, selling parts. I have a genuine interest in cars and modifying, involving spending many weekends over the years at various meets and events of every type, camping or staying at most of the tracks around the country for various things. Luckily for me, my partner (lottie) is 100% as keen on cars as i am, belonging to many forums herself, and has allways been happy to join me.

I feel that the fact I have been a fairly big user of many forums over the last 5 or 6 years all helps me provide the service that I would expect to get if i was on the buying side of the equation. Main delaers tend to have a bad name i find, (sometimes it is justified of course, but not all times) and it can feel like an uphill batte at times trying to convince people that not everyone at every dealership is the enemy.

Working in a Volvo main dealer and being a big fourm user meant that eventualy the two came together. First of all i was allways able to offer any help or adivce that i could from the systems i use daily. Then i would sometimes get asked how much i could supply a certain part for, and i would sell a part here or there, though this then quickly snowballed in the amount that i was supplying through mail order, where today it is pretty much a full time job for me. I have the full backing for what I do, from the rest of the parts team in the dealership, though i tend to handle 99% of the enquiries myself. If you send me a message on this or any other site i use0 or to the email, it will allways be myself who is replying to you.

Over the years I have supplied countless parts to internet forum users, all of which have been given the maximum discount by us which varies from part to part. I take the cost price then add a small percentage to that price to hopefully make it the best possible price you will find for the genuine item, even after postage is added generally we will be cheaper than getting it locally. I haven't used gimmicks, I simply give the best possible price at all times.

I would like to add that I personaly have no financial gain from this, i do not make anything extra from this service, (as i have been asked on a few occassions). For me it really is a case of piles of extra work... lol (honest!) but i enjoy doing it and enjoy being able to provide this service to fellow volvo owners.

During normal office hours I am almost always available for help or to give prices for parts although I may not be able to reply to you outside working hours.

Please use this link for all of your parts enquiries:

Link Removed. Please read This post...

and I will always reply at the first possible opportunity.

All quotes given will show the full Volvo retail price, the discounted price you will pay and the cost of postage clearly. I take the service we provide here (to all internet users) very seriously with it getting my priority at all times.

Please continue to use this thread to leave any feedback for our services, it all helps me to be able to continue with what I have been doing for longer I suppose!

Thanks to everyone who has used us past, present and future!

Many thanks

Simon :)

I personally would not go anywhere else for Volvo parts. Rufe is always willing to help and the service is second to none. Even with the postage which is normally next day the savings are huge.

Dealt with Simon, would recommend to all for genuine Volvo parts. Honest, reliable and a very speedy wallet friendly service. Won’t try any other supplier any more….

Another recommendation from me, bought some parts from Simon, he answered all my questions, even digging out the VADIS instructions for installation.

just one thing to say simply the best now use them for all parts no longer use motor factors as frf can go cheaper on gen parts than most motor factors can go on oem A+++++++++++++++++++++++

Probably the 3.6% odd that paypal snaffle has something to do with it, that would knock a large hole in the tiny percentages Rufe is working to.

You can now elect for the payment sender to pay the fees rather than the recipient.

I didnt know this, and may an option to consider as I didnt realise the fees were as high as 3.6%, which would mean we would actually be losing on the majority of our sales, so if that was the case then we simply couldn't do it.

I have asked the question to our management here in the past and simply got the reply of "lets not bother with that it will only complicate things," where my argument is that paypal would probably make things easier. I hadn't considered the high charges though, but if a buyer was willing to pay the fees then i cant see why we couldn't do it.

Will look into this again then i think

Simon

Coo, didn't know that, that's v. useful info.

Regarding the percentage, I sold an article earlier this week; item, £45, p&p, £4, total £49, fees charged on whole amount, £1.87. By my rough estimation that's 3.8%; mind you, they prolly charge traders less than that, else who in their right mind would deal under those terms?

Regards, Nick.

cumbrianmale Sep 12th, 2008 01:32

Isn't it 20p + 3.6%?

Rufe Sep 12th, 2008 09:02

it is 3.4% plus 20p, i was looking into this yesterday

(3.4% of £49.00 = £1.67, plus 20p = £1.87)

However, it seems the receiver of funds can pay the fees, but only in a personal transfer, not for a sale, which looks to be a problem i feel

Citizen.Agfa Sep 12th, 2008 21:58

Thanks Simon, worth knowing.

Excellent Service from FRF

I contacted Simon last week regarding upper control arms for the rear suspension.
Very helpful on the telephone and a good discount on genuine volvo parts.
They arrived within 3 days and are both now fitted on the car.
Excellent service thankyou Simon of FRF.

dooby Sep 18th, 2008 10:50

Just received more parts from Simon. Ordered yesterday morning, arrived today.

When his price for genuine Volvo rear strut top mounts is less than a tenner off the price of aftermarket ones, it makes my decision very easy :-)

Cheers, Pete

saturnuranus Sep 18th, 2008 12:57

Ordered some paint (tin & pen) on Tuesday, had to wait for them to come in at FRFs end but I received them today. Top service really, great price, plus the chap on the other end is ever so polite :)

Top marks :car:

To be honest Simon, Paypal is "good" but isn't the be all and end all... I wouldn't bother as a business which already has merchant services.... after all Paypal is renowned for payment problems, frozen payments and clawbacks and then the huge fees.....

Lets face it, To use Paypal people must have a bank account/debit card... so could transfer money electronically to your bank account... Or failing that, just ring you with their debit/credit card details much the same as I do every time.

I can strongly recommend Simon (and Jeff & Co) at FRF as a place and people to deal with, I've had my car in there for work (last minute panic stop) and also have bought many parts from them both by mail order and in person (I had a habit of visiting wales every couple of weeks, and I miss the drive across on the A483 from Chester to Carmathen at 4am ;) )

I've never had a problem getting parts from FRF, and the one part I had that failed was replaced with no hassle and no problems, I've bought plenty of stuff from them plus I've worked with FRF from a specialist perspective as well and know that their service/repair work is top class ;)

There you go Simon

FRF Parts

First order and extremely delighted with service.

Ordered radiator on Monday afternoon and received it this morning. Excellent packaging. Altogether a very pleasant transaction. I think I know where my future Volvo parts requirements will come from.

Thanks Simon.

Great Service

First time I've used Simon for parts and only wish I'd found him sooner.

S80 driveshaft Ordered Monday afternoon, arrived Wednesday morning, less than 48 hours after ordering. I couldn't have picked it up from my dealer any sooner and I didn't have to do the trip. :) And a discount into the bargain, it just gets better.

Thanks for a great service Simon.

David
