1997 v40 light switch advice
My lightswitch blew on my v40 phase 1 and I got a replacement one and I think it is from a 1999 model. It looks the same and block fits into back but while headlights and fog lights work but no parking lights, dash dimmer and headlight ajusters don't.Can I do anything about this such as changing wires around or is it no good.

Between those models the pin configuration in the plugs is very different. Only a few wires are common to both years.
It is possible (though very tricky) to move them around though, but from memory there are about eight wires or so which will need to be moved. And you'll need to know where to move them to. |

Thanks Canis,10 wires into block, car passed m o t last couple of years no problem, would be a pity to scrap her for no side lights. Will try everything to keep her on the road.Has to be a way, only wires.

I made a diagram, but it's stuck on a hard disc in a machine which won't work properly. I'll try to find the original, if I can, it shows both types side-by-side.

If you're stuck I have a few switches here from a '98 car (Phase 1) which you can have for the P&P. Does yours have front fogs? |

My switch has fog lights.I cleaned and hoked out melted plastic on my old switch and got it to work but I don't trust it,I was going to use it for mot only if I did not get one.Let me know how I get money to you,I am on pay pal if that helps. Thanks again Liam.

Replied to your PM  Just to confirm...your switch also has the front fog lamp option?
