Various 144 parts

Hi

My 144 is long gone but I have the following usual suspect items for sale:-

Rear light clusters
Rear door ashtrays
First generation alloy grille
seatbelt anchor
bonnet trailing edge rubber - new
heater fan
4 non-screw on hubcaps
rocker cover gasket

offers? (though I suspect most on here have all these things gathering dust too)

Hi again Billy - trust you are well. As you say, most 140 owners have what you have on the shed shelf, however the company who resprayed my 145 (for the previous owner) lost the rubber edging at the rear of the bonnet.
If still available can I ask how much posted to me please - address in VOC magazine as 140-series registrar.
Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul - all good thanks. This is the rubber that slides (if you're lucky) into the channel on the bulkhead - but yes, rear of the bonnet.

I will get it packaged up and weighed and let you know. However, you will have to PM your address as I no longer get the magazine
Cheers

I've just bought my first classic Volvo so have none of these "usual" spares!

The car I have is in need of a rear left light cluster as the current one is cracked. The alloy grille also sounds interesting.

Please PM me if so inclined. :)

From what I deduce, Halkyon, you are a rare breed - someone interested in a Volvo 140. Years ago these were considered the forgotten classic, and time hasn't made it any better! Well done!

Tell us the age of your car, as early ones had small 'stack'-type rear lights whereas later ones had boxy units like the early 240s. Then walk round it and list all you might need so we all know: most new consumable parts are available at several specialists, so you can see prices and availability on line. Billy has sold his 144 so may not frequent these hallowed pages much nowadays, but if he hasn't got what you need I have lots (all s/h) and have a breaker-car for 'that rainy day' - but really prefer dry!

Hi Triple-S.

Thanks for the reply - and I do seem to have odd taste for cars. This new purchase is my "modern and safe upgrade" after dailying a Morris 1000 for five years.

The car is amazondean's 145 listed in this very forum. A 1973 with the later interior and later lights, I believe. All I've done since driving home is vacuum a lot of pet hair out of the back, clean it, properly treat all the plastics and rubber parts, and straighten the steering wheel!

Hi Halkyon

My light clusters are from a saloon, so no good for your estate. The alloy grille is most likely spoken for. For information, you could fit the early alloy grille (140s had 3 generations of grille - your's is the 3rd, mine the 1st) but it might upset the purists.

Nice 145, enjoy
