Any of you CarPlay people tried this tweek or know if it works as described?..

depends if you'd want to "Jailbreak" your iPhone first. Never done it and never would as I dont keep the old ones but I suspect you will miss out on proper updates.

That’s exactly the scenario I’ve had in mind- to jailbreak my old 5S and use it to test this app.. :) If it works as described- it’s got more functionality than the ROIK interface- and without messing with the Sensus cabling & voiding the warranty..

I was hoping to hear some experiences before I venture into the unknown :D

Yeah, but I suspect Apple will ever give us this kind of functionality.. I personally don't care about playing vids while driving - but being able to run ANY app I want via CarPlay is the way CarPlay should have been designed from the very beginning..

Google Maps are needed and will be allowed with ios12. As will Waze. Who knows what else.

Running videos whilst moving is illegal so will never be allowed.

It is, its developers that need to apply for a CarPlay licence, most don't as 99% of apps would be pointless if ported!

Just installed iOS 12 - and to everyone’s disappointment- still no waze, no google maps in CaPlay.. CarPlay is unchanged by this update.

Wait for iOS 13 or jailbreak.. that is the question.. :D

CarPlay is NOT unchanged. You think developers will just update their apps that quickly?

Ok, I’ve seen the post by encroute- apparently the support from google is coming in v5.0. Which is not yet available for download btw.

Judging by your reaction- you must be in development.. :) Calm down.. my understanding was that google already implemented the changes and that we were just waiting for the iOS update to make it work..
