Volvo 8 track radio wanted.

I´m looking for an org. 8 track radio/cassette player for my 164 TE.

I have a brand new Volvo 8 track, with instructions and original packaging. It is in perfect condition other than it is missing the inner swivel behind one of the knobs (i think this controls the tone).I also have a pair matching speakers. These are used but in good working order. I have tested everything, the radio works surprisingly well for what is now a very elderly piece of equipment.
I was planning on fitting it to my 164 this winter however I haven't yet had time to do it. If you make me the right offer I may be persuaded to part with it! Post me your email and ill send photos.

i can´t check my paperwork as itá about 17000km away and that also assumes it still exists but i remember from an original ad for the 164TE the car was fitted with a cassette player and not an 8 track as there was a separate fader control mounted with the rocker switches. i think it was the 1st time volvo fitted a stereo as standard and the 1st cassette AND the 1st time 4 speakers was standard.

I also in doubt because 8 track system is primarily used in the United States - I have not seen it in many cars here in Europe, except in the cars imported from the United States.

But in Volvo's own 164 TE sales brochure is a photo of their 8 track and says that a TE is equipped with an 8 track radio / cassette player and 4 speakers.

But my sources tell me that this was NOT the case with the TE sold in Europe.

In my TE's Blaupunkt Frankfurt and 4 speakers.

But I am glad, if you may. can help.

My original English 164TE has always had a working 8-track fitted - I am the second owner and it was in the car from new according to the previous owner.
However, its staying with the car!

Looked at some Volvo accessories brochures I have and it seems the 8 track I have didn't appear until '75 so it could have been fitted to 164 TEs as well as early 240s. Its quite tall with rounded corners. The squarer fronted, lower stereo appears in a '72 accessories brochure, however I've never seen one for sale- guess they're getting rare.
