1.6 diesel cutting out
 

Hi,

My uncles S40 1.6d, 2008 with 45,000 miles on has just started to cut out occasionally.

The car runs perfectly the rest of the time, but with no warning, the engine dies. When he turn off the ignition and try to restart it if runs staight away and there is no problem 'till the next time it happens. It's happening every few days now. The RAC plugged it in and no fault codes came up.

Can anybody help me ???.

Did you ever sort out his problem?

I am having the same problem, and the garage have just diagnosed the two common-rail sensors.

Was this what you had?

If so, approximately how much did it cost to fix?

Fuel filter?????

I have seen RAC diagnostics not pick up codes but VIDA will pick them them.
I would check the wiring under the EGR valve.
