Poor fuel consumption

Mini crisis!!!

Please help us out, I need to take my family away in the T5R tomorrow & I'm scared I've got major issues.. Its only giving half the mpg it usually does- & possibly smells a bit dodgy too. I'll try & describe symptoms....

Engine over revs for a few seconds by between 500 & 1000 rpm when you take your foot off the gas and have foot on the clutch. But it does NOT do this when stationary & in neutral.

Still has plenty of oomph & no warning lights are on.

Seems to "hunt" a fair bit when you initially start it, i.e. before engine has warmed up.

I'm sure I could think of a few more but I wanted to try for a quick respone, so I could have an initial look.
