Your tyre of choice for your T5's

What tyres do you all all run on your T5's? I'm currently refurbing a set of Canisto wheels for my 850 and as I'll be closer to the 300bhp mark, traction could well be an issue.

Primacy 3s. Had EfficientGrips too which were impressive.

EfficientGrips wear very quickly

Goodyear EfficientGrips are good tyres but the rate of wear is disappointing, barely 10,000 miles.

I've put on a set of Avon tyres on my v70 r and the grip is very good in wet or dry. Coupled with the brembo discs and pads all round it responds a lot better.

Use pilot sport 4s ( Michelin) on my 855R. I'm so pleased with everything bar the high wear rate.

Salut!

As above, had Pilot Sport 4’s for the last few years and can’t fault them. Not a clue how long they last because they just get changed when they’re ready. We use these on my 2007 S60 2.4 T5 and the wife’s 2014 V60 D4.

Brilliant thanks guys, I was looking at something like Nankang NS2R or something similar but the wet weather performance of those fast road/track tyres isn't fantastic so not ideal as a daily.

I use Uniroyal Rainsport 3 but did change to 55 rather than 50 profile on the standard wheels for better availability and slightly improved ride. Grip, road noise etc. very good. Still eats the fronts quicker than the rear, obviously.

I also have a T5, and I also switched to 55 profile from the standard 50. The 55 profile tyres are more common, therefore much better availability and also this makes them significantly cheaper - and a slightly better ride quality as a bonus, allegedly a slight decrease in handling/cornering but IMHO this doesn't matter unless you're a bit of a road warrior - which I'm not.

HTH

Bear in mind the increase to a 55 profile tyre adds 20mm to overall tyre size (10mm less arch gap and 10mm more ride height) - watch your clearances if your car is lowered. Mine is dropped only 30mm and I cant clear 55s, they rub on full lock.
