Fluctuating Fuel Gauge

My fuel sender was rusted solid when I got my 122s so stripped it and cleaned it up and now works fine. However, as the fuel sloshes about in the tank, the gauge does the same. I don't remember my previous 122s fuel gauge doing this so is there a dampening circuit missing on the sender or is it on the fuel gauge?

Mine are the same, only accurate when on level ground, a bit like the dipstick in the sump.

Waving about a bit is pretty normal but the needle bashing the full stop means bad connection/s or dodgy wiper connection on the sender.

Thanks for the replies - its reassuring that its normal. I have seen various reports about sticking a large capacitor across the sender terminals so if I can find one I will try it. Thanks to you all
