alarm siren part numbers.

I think I need a new siren module.

Occasionally I get a notification the alarm is triggered. But I have tried to test the alarm, and I cant trigger it with the arm through open window trick. heavy road vibration from a truck will trigger alarm, but only the hazzards flash, no audible siren.

So, I'm looking for a new module. But what part number? It seems the c30 might be part: 30659412. However I have found much newer 2017 modules off v40 (part 30659885).

The pictures make the modules look identical. But are they interchangeable? Will 30659885 work with my 2011 RHD c30, 2L petrol?

Advice really appreciated as Ive found guides but not confirmation of part numbers
cheers

anyone? the sirens all visually appear to have the same 3 pin connector on the front, are the same dimemsions and both the metal and plastic ones have the same retaining lugs rop and bottom.

There are other varying part numbers... what are peoples thoughts, interchamgeable?

Part number 30659412 is for a MY2010 C30 with chassis number prior to 585350 in R.H.D with level sensor. If your chassis number is greater than 585351 then it's part number 30659895. Best way to check is remove the existing unit and look at it's part code.

It appears, looking at VIDA, they are LHD/RHD specific and come with and without level sensors. There are clearly differences but whether different versions will work or not I can't tell you.

What I would say is that most of these units fail due to the internal battery and, given they tend to fail around 7-8yrs old, it's highly likely that any second hand unit will either already have a failed battery or won't be far off it. There's a thread somewhere on the forum about repairing the unit by replacing the battery for the DIY-minded but otherwise I think you may be better off with a new unit sadly.

Absolute diamond, thanks for the detailed reply. My guess is that my 2011 does have a tilt/level sensor as loud heavy vibration seems to be all that sets it off. I'll have to remove mine and have a look. My plan was to get the newest module possible second hand. take it apart and check board, new battery and then fit it.

I had assumed all sensors etc were in a seperate module somewhere, and the siren unit was just a battery and siren etc.

I suspect my current one is goosed as the siren not sounding suggests board is already coroded or otherwise bad.

If I can get access to Vida I could check the actual alarm module for any sensor errors. However, I had a full scan and software update at volvo a year ago, with no error codes...

Is there any trick I can do to deliberately set off the alarm??? oh and my chassis is in the high 69 thousands....

so it gets weirder... Tested the alarm by sitting in locked car.... ultrasonics set alarm off when I move.... siren sounds!! Then set reduced guard, same procedure.. this time I open door... alarm sounds... success!!!!

So the siren does work, motion and door sensors work...

So why did loud vehicles passing trigger the cars alaem, twice now. But only the hazards were flashing.... no siren.......

Im stumped... I guess could be a weird malfunction with the siren modules in built tilt sensor....

I'm not getting alarm service messages...

It's an odd one. When the battery failed on mine, heavy winds would set the alarm off but in the main it was both siren and hazards.

All was fixed by a replacement siren unit for me although I didn't change the battery so I full-well expect mine to fail again soon as the unit must be about 10yrs old.
