Wanted Volvo S40 - Now Have Car

I have not obtained a Volvo S40. Absolutely no response from this website though which surprised me. Must be alot of satisfied owners who don't want to sell their cars!!!!

2006 and 60K max for £6000, I think that's your problem.

I bought a one owner ex lease FVSH, 2004.5 [Focus platform] 54 Plate S40 2.0D SE [full leather, heated] 58,650 in silver, 12 month AA 5 star warranty, cost me £6000, beginning of January.

I could not find anything with leather and below 60K within a grand of that. In fact the garage I bought it at, also had a blue 2006 S40 non leather, with 60K on the clock for 7K. And he was cheaper than any other offerings anywhere. But all the enquires had been for the S40 with leather. I say that because I was in two minds, which to buy, as Andrew the guy who owns the garage said, he had the same profit in both so take which ever I wanted. Consulted two mechanics I knew, and they both said the length of time I'll keep the car for, go for the lower priced one, as that grand will disappear when I finally sell it.

Since, fitted front and rear parking aids [ for the wife] electromagnetic type fitted behind the bumpers, so you cannot tell it has them.

If I was to sell it, I'd be looking for 6.5k

Well done, what did you manage to get, the 1.6 or 2.0?

I managed to get a 2.0D S with 45,000 on the clock. No climate control though - but never had it before - so i wont miss it.

2.0D is a fast motor with plenty of low end grunt for overtaking, does she like it

Yes my wife also, after coming from a Focus Mark 1, where she basically sat on the steering wheel. Likes to see the end of the bonnet, and the hatch back giving her an idea where the back was, women drivers....... :hidesbehindsofa:

So I bought and installed front and rear parking aids. The type you install behind the bumpers.........I must admit, I now use them, best thing I've ever bought for a car. When you think of the cost of replacing a smashed bumper, a hundred quid for the kit is money well spent. Just come back from a two day trip to Scotland yesterday. First real run in the car since I bought it, 500 miles, mostly motorway, went like a dream. Never had cruise control before, now that I did like. Anyway the parking at the B&B was tight, but with the sensors, first time every time. Here's a link to a thread I did discussing sensors, and subsequently a guide I did to installing them on a S40 http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=64626 I'd thoroughly recommend them. Also the wife now sits back in the drivers seat. The correct distance from the steering wheel, giving the air bag time to inflate if she was ever in another head on collision* [reason for Focus to S40 change]

How does she find the dipped beam headlights ? I thought the ones that came with the car were crap, and the Volvo setting was low. So I swapped them for the Phillips X-treme variety, and adjusted the horizontal beam setting upwards to the MOT limit.
