Is the ETM covered by a manufactures warranty?

Dear all,

While driving back from Birmingham tonight the car started to judder, this juddering lasted for about 100 miles on and off, unfortunatly only 7 miles from my intended destination the cruise control kicked out and the ETS light came on, could only maintain about 40 MPH for a further 10 minutes then it failed completely.

Waited for a recovery truck to arrive, needed a flat bed because of the AWD :(

By the time the recovery truck had arrived the light was out and the throttle was responded perfectly.....Araaagh!

Still went home via the recovery truck.

So my question is, Is the ETS replacement covered in the UK under the much talked about ETM 200,000 mile warranty? If so happy days.

I have a 3rd party extended warranty which I believe will cover this fault with 100% for labour and only 90% for the parts.

Alternativly a chap on ebay is offering a fix for £150 plus P&P but that means I have to remove the unit, Oh frightened now.....

My best option is Volvo assuming they do provide the warranty in the UK.

The car is now at home with no ETS light and no apparent fault however I am not prepared to risk a journey as I believe the ETS has effectivly failed. Fortunatly I have two other cars so it is not the end of the world just yet!

Your thoughts on the matter are most welcome.........

Kindest regards

Patrick

As long as I know the repair in ebay is for the abs/tracs unit not for ETM.

Most probably Volvo will/have to start a campaign for the ETM in Europa. Because of the high demand from dissatisfied customers.

You`d better go with your extended warranty because the failing part is the two strip resistors on the bore of the TB which are measuring the flap position. An they are not repairable or replaceable (according to my little knowledge)

Why not leave a description of what happened at http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/contact/transport.shtml ; or telephone: 020 8535 1000
