This album shows box removal in detail. A couple of wobble extension bars are the secret to getting the bell housing bolts from underneath. It is a heavy lump and will need two to lift. It is easier over a pit or on a hoist but do-able on car ramps. I really should do this write up from the pictures. Don't let the times above the pictures put you off. That is for the experts!

As with any gearbox of course, you appreciate that it is vital not to hang it unsupported on the gearbox input shaft. This is easily done, especially if you are busily engaged in levering a stuborn bell housing off the studs in the block and it suddenly frees and shifts back a couple of inches.

It's worth checking the gearbox input shaft seal while you have the box off. Leaking oil can come either from the engine or gearbox. The seal likewise can be damaged if the gearbox is allowed to hang on the shaft.
