Not far off new looking , what lets it down are the chromed wheel rings they are not the correct stainless steel factory ones and it makes a huge difference , they are almost a signature of finishing off the car's looks ...

Thanks! There are lots of tinkering things to do. Eg, no interior light switches, I think there should be 2 horns, I suffered a split brake hose, so suspect they weren't changed, etc etc, but all in all am well pleased, especially with the colour.

$60k question. I take it the stainless rims are not available (?).

No , but certainly worth looking for , They used them on the 164 and 140 GL models and 1800ES of course . too from 1973 onwards .

I have some in the workshop and yes you can buy new from Brookhouse parts as I fitted new last year to an ES for a customer 😎

Kind regards

Wow that’s a beauty

Hey Robert, this is Tim from the other side of the village!

Brookhouse say their rims are for ES and late E, but I'd say mine's an early E (1970). Will call them. Are you selling yours?

Hi Tim ,

I have a few secondhand ones which to be fair as your car is all new looking it might be better to go the new route .

I’m sure the ones you can buy will be fine the only other type is yes a early embellish rings but unsure what is correct due to wheels I know the ES all had the rings you can buy still but I have the early rings in the workshop aswell plenty of those .

Kind regards

I'll pop over and have a look at what the rings looks like, if that's ok, Robert. Our previous correspondent thought they were a lot better than the chrome I have now. Probably wait til next week, as I've just waxed it and it's starting to rain 😂🤣😂
