My local fitter has these on offer so going to give them a go and replace all 4 of my tyres with them.

Has anyone tried the Nokian WR G2's yet?

I need a set of tyres for the V70 and Vredestien aren't making any more Wintrac Extreme until August. Bit odd when you consider they are a mud tyre as well and if the ground's not frozen we have plenty of that all year round.

Hello Roy, been running them since October 2010, no problems, quiet, very little wear ( only 4000 miles though and still at 7.5mm 'ish all round) and fantastic in the snow/ice/frost and the wet ... only a hint of ABS kicking in even when trying hard to provoke it in the snow.

Only thing I have really noticed is the amazing amount of spray generated on even slightly damp roads, plus the tailgate is constantly grubby.

It is likely that the WR G2 will become the tyre of choice for many. I have been running since January last year and have found them to be a superb all round tyre.

Obviously they do not handle as well as a quality, pure summer tyre in dry conditions, as the tread on any winter tyre will always move more, due to the large number of individual blocks that make up the tread. The turn in is not as crisp as a result, however I have not found this to be a problem at any time. In wet conditions, the grip seems almost the same as in dry conditions, and in snow, they are superb. On the original Conti's and then on the Nokian equivalent NRVi tyres, I was able to get up hills on snow, but had to be extremely careful downhill and braking as they would lock fairly easily.

In contrast the Nokian WR-G2 tyres had almost as much grip under braking on snow as in the dry.

Wear rate seems good, and fuel consumption does not seem to be have been adversely affected at all, and if anything has marginally improved the economy.

I only used the vehicle in the UK last year, so cannot comment about their suitability in very hot conditions, but during our summer when we had temperatures into the 30's, they were absolutely fine even though they are softer than summer tyres.

Some people will still want to buy a cheaper tyre, but when pushed, invariably the 'economy' tyres break away earlier and have longer stopping distances. I prefer to use a tyre which has the best overall performance for my usage, as to save £100-00 to £150-00 on a set of tyres pales into insignificance in relation to fuel costs and the safety of my passengers and myself.

Looked an XC90 today that had Hancook Dynapro HP's on it (all 4). I will read this whole thread when I have time & if I buy the car...but any opinions on them.

They will need replaced before too long - so probably want an All Weather ish type tyre to see me thro' the great winters we have up here.

I'd put on mud & snow tyres, or all terrain. Plenty of reviews on this thread.:thumbs_up:

I noticed they were 'only' H rated. Is that correct for the 2007 D5 Geartronic SE?

Only? How fast does your XC90 go? 130mph is the H rating.

Not that fast...just used to V & W rated tyres on my Vrs
