Timing belt change

Anyone local to Durham recommend a good Volvo specialist as car is on 56k but is 10yr old so want it changing asap
Just phoned Volvo and they are getting back to me with price (no doubt they will want £500) but more interestingly they recommend not changing water pump?
Am I missing something?

For info

Volvo wanted £360
Independant Volvo - £185

In Taunton no good for yourself, but a guide nevertheless of what I was quoted

Thanks for that
I have had 3 quotes
Volvo Stockton £299 for belt ,idler and tensioner
Volvo Sunderland £379 for same(would not even entertain the thought of price matching the above ...and a right arrogant **** he sounded to be frank)
A local Volvo specialist £175 for same and even a gen Volvo kit or £225 with water pump
Just a bit nervous as to how good this specialist is
His name is Scott Banks has anyone heard of him?

Generally (imo as a rule of thumb for what its worth) if he is busy and struggles to fit you in quickly then most like a good place to go. If he is a true independent, as my local Taunton dealer is, then basically, the parts should be Volvo, just a lower labour charge hence reduced overall price.

Whereabouts was the indy?

I've been quoted £600 from Volvo in Taunton and £485 from Formula cars in Wellington. My local garage has agreed to do it for max of 2 hours labour (I'll get the parts from Rufe so another £170 inc aux belt).

Admittedly mine is newer, on a 55 plate, but even so, I didn't think the job was that hard??
