Electronic Module Faults
Hi
I posted a thread regarding faulty interior lighting and door open warning light failure of wjioch I have now obtained a wiring diagram. I believe the fault lies with the CEM or Alarm module. Does anyone know if by removing power to these things they may reset like computers - or am I at risk of creating a fault on something else! |
electonic module faults
hi, my s40 is suffering from exactly the same symptoms, but how do we get around it?
Thanks Mike |
well I've fixed the problem and it wasnt the battery or alternator or wiring loom under the radiator. Somehwere amongst the mass of cables from the cabin fusebox, Ive traced a dead power cable. So to bypass this i've jumped the positive wire from the cigarette lighter which was unaffected from the fault, to the postive cable of the car stereo which was effected by the fault. So now the dead circuit has a new power supply and everything works fine now. Infact, the footwell lights which stopped working a long time ago, even work.

Well done for the fix, but which wire was dead and where did it go to.
|
i dont kmow exactly where the break in the cable is, otherwise I would have simply replaced it, but all the systems which failed were on the same system. A week after the repair and the car is still working fine.

You will find this wire does go in the loom under the radiator so it would be a good idea to fix it there ...

i removed the radiator and inspected the loom from the engine bay and from the underside but the loom was in perfect condition, as was the plastic loom protector.
