engine mounts

Is there any significance to my engine mountings being Red ,the ones I have seen advertised have been black.
I am trying to find the source of a vibration through the car and will check the prop shaft when I can get access to a ramp

Probably 'competition' mountings made of polyurethane and harder than standard ones. I often use the (black) heavy duty mountings which are still rubber but quite a bit stiffer. These can cause some vibration at tickover but not when driving in my experience.

The red mounts are poly. You can get some vibration from them at idle but not really while driving.

Bought some new mountings from Brookhouse to see if it helped. There advice was that the P1800 mount was fitted as standard with the 123GT engine. As mine is a 144s engine I took there advice and bought P1800.
They have arrived today and about 2/3 the size of the original red poly bushes is that the norm.

Is the vibration consistent through the whole range or does it happen at particular times. Drive shaft problems usually make themselves felt during acceleration and deceleration. Gear box mounting also needs looking at.

I think acceleration not cruising The propshaft will be the next target.
Having said about the vibration the car just gets better as I work through things.Engine brakes exhaust seats have all made big advances and the paint is booked in as a winter job.

If the gearbox mount, similar to the motor mount, has softened up due to oil, that can also amplify any vibration from the prop.
