RE: XC90 LPG

Hi,

Having seen the pictures in this thread, I would be really interested to hear what experiences people have of such converstions on an XC90.

I have decided to purchase an XC90 and very much like the idea of an LPG converstion, if only to deny the chancellor some tax.

A view on the performance and or the range that can be achieved
with such a convertion would be greatly appreciated,

RE: XC90 LPG

I have only done the S80 myself.
Typical values-
consumption expect to use upto 5% more gas than you would petrol.
performance expect to lose a maximum of 2% power.
range the tank holds approx 55ltr of gas
you should be able to work it out from there.
Where abouts are you?
I can point you in the direction of your nearest installer.

RE: XC90 LPG

Dai,

The North Pole of London - Borough of Enfield.

I have seen a number of websites that list "approved"
installers but have not yet engauged any of them
to establish the cost of converstion but I have an idea.

I have calculated the cost of running a T6(lpg) vs D5
over the course of several years (I don't change cars
very often) and there appears to be very little difference
in cost.

In fact, if I did over 15k miles a year the T6 is
cheaper than the D5 - wild!

Given the superior refinement and performance of the
T6, lpg conversion appears to be the way to go.

Ta,

Carl

granted, but you do loose the spare wheel.

i'm surprised volvo never did a xc90 with dualfuel themselves - they've done a few other cars, but dont seem to be investing in it any more.

How far are you willing to travel?

The answer to Hugh's question is you can put a tank in place or the spare wheel and the coice is yours if you want to carry it around with you. The other option is to opt for a cylinder tank in the back.

No further than the home counties really, especially
in the event of any repair work being required.

Corwall Autogas would require a weeks holiday!

XC90 LPG Owner

I now own an XC90 T6 which has been converted to run on LPG by
Hertsautogas using BRC equipment.

Performance is indestinguishable from petrol and the engine
is quieter at the higher end of the rev range.

I will comment on the range and economy once they are clear.

I did not establish the performance on petrol before the conversion
(i.e. the accuracy of the trip computer) so still have some testing to
do.

XC90 lpg

Hi,

I've read with interest your messages about lpg on the XC90. I'm just about to buy an '04 plate T6 and have it converted for about £2,200. However, I've just rung one of the approved conversion centres and they are saying it's pretty pointless converting it because it would only do about 100 miles before needing to be refilled ! He mentioned that a 55 litre tank was the biggest he could put in due to the third row of folding seats.

I would be really grateful if someone could provide me with some info on their experiences, as I'm wondering if I should pull out of the purchase, even though I would loose the £300 deposit. Help !

Matthew
