Susp arm poly bushes
Got a wee look at my (new to me) V70 and it has a buggered suspension arm bush at N/S/F. For ease of replacement I'm thinking of poly bushes.
Good/bad idea??…...anyone Saw these on e-bay...……. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-850...oAAOSwyQtV3tBi Anyone tried the above bushes? John. |
I put poly bushes in one of mine, as the ball joint was perfect. However, in the normal course of things by the time the arm bushes get knackered, the ball joint is going to be a bit poorly too, so you might as well replace the whole arm.
Also, these cars give the arms a hard time, so it's worth getting good quality ones - I initially bought a budget set and they lasted about 2,000 miles only! If you get decent ones like Meyle HD, the bushes are made of stuff very similar to Polybush anyway, so a win-win. My new Meyle HD ones have been in for years now and are still rock solid. IMHO this is an area not to skimp on, or you'll be doing the job again. Don't forget to re-do the wheel alignment afterwards, as it WILL be out, and will cost you in worn tyres if you leave it. |

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FOR-VOLVO...Condition=1000 This looks like the right type, I assume the phase 1 V70 has the same suspension as the 850 that came before it? |

Hope this helps. |

The link below for a cheaper one says good for 850 and V70. ?? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUSPENSIO...EAAOSwMs5dpS4M I'm going to assume the Meyle one will be ok too. |

It might also be worth you filling in your User CP (top left) and putting your car details in your signature....no guessing then about your current car. Good luck. |
I'd just get the correct Meyle HD ones from PartsForVolvo online, it's good service and the prices are there or thereabouts.

As yours is 04/2000 perhaps they don't fit ? Buy cheap replace every year...won't last 2 years plus the tyre wear = tyres. Go with what Luxo says above  Parts for Volvo also have a VIN Number look up....just to make sure you get the right part. |
