v90 towbar installation

Hi,

I have a 2019 V90, I would like to install a towbar but volvos genuine towbar is very expensive. Has anybody installed and aftermarket towbar and wiring and if so, can this still be set up by volvo to include the trailor stability etc?

I have the foldaway Volvo towbar. It was pricey, but really good. So easy to deploy, and put away. Just a press of a button and a quick easy click into place.

I also have the genuine Volvo deployable bar. I had one fitted to my previous v70, discovery sport and bmw 325 and to be honest the Volvo appears the best for deploying and storage as well as connecting the electrics. All were a similar price to fit.

I bought 2018 V90 D4 R Design in January. The towbar was£1075. A lot of money, yes but the sales guy pointed out that the electrics in this car are complex and if an independent tow bar fitter caused any damage they would not stand over it and could incur considerable expense. I thought over it and decided to go for the Volvo bar.
Your car is probably worth about £40000 so a few hundred is a very small percentage of the total cost. At the end of the day it's your call
