Anyone with a petrol V40?
Anyone with a T2 T3 T4 wish to share their ownership experience?

Seen many more diesels than petrols around here.
Our own T4 is a peach, however. Power is delivered very nicely even from low revs, with an additional big kick once the needle hits 5k rpm. Engine is generally quiet and refined. Gearbox is smooth with no hint of notchiness. What else do you want to know? :car-smiley-003: |
Anything really. This part of the forum seems so quiet.
Many are moving away from diesels, and the petrol options on cars sometimes seem the 'poor' option. I am also interested if and when the new petrol engines will arrive in V40 form. Cheers |
Ok, fuel consumption over 3,800 miles is, according to the trip computer,
34.1mpg. With petrol being cheaper than diesel it probably costs about the same (in fuel) to run as my XC60 D5. Engine start-stop on the V40 also helps I suppose. The car is mainly used for tootling around the local area (school run, trips into town, etc) with the occasional longer trip. Hence why a diesel wasn't appropriate due to the potential for DPF issues. It's fun to drive - handling is well sorted, not surprising given its Focus base. The cabin is quiet though doesn't match the XC60 for lack of road noise at speed. I've always liked the power delivery of diesels but I reckon small, turbocharged petrol engines have caught up in that regard. So I'll be interested to see how the new VEA petrol engines perform, especially when our XC60 is up for replacement (which will be a while yet!). |
New to this site and not sure of my way around ...I have v40 t3 since jan 13 with no trouble approx 7k and 50mpg tho a good run it gos 55plus so from a Honda accord and 35mpg I'd say it's a good change. Petrol is cheaper and the d2 was less powerful and on my test day did no more mpg and I was always changing gears to keep going so petrol was best option .but the Ts are few about that's for sure! Off to Germany soon can you change mph to km on speedo as I can on our Toyota ?
|
In reply to my own question I can get km on speedo via left stalk controls !
|
Sitting on various German roads at the moment at up to 85 mph and still getting 50.7 mpg not bad me thinks ?

Hope you are not the driver Mickybirt....:)

Covered just under 5,000 miles so far, averaging 35.1mpg (mostly urban driving with a few motorways). I'm currently looking at getting a tuning kit to bump the power up closer to the 190-200bhp mark :) |
