HU1205 / HU-1205 satnav CD / CDROMs for download

Sorry it took me so long, I couldn't upload the files to my webspace (too big) but thanks to Matt they are finally available via BTSync. They're in .CCD format as the .ISO when ripped didn't work properly in the HU-1205. You can use Nero to rip them. There's a instruction guide in the folder that explains how to do it, that Matt wrote.

To download the files, you'll need to download and install BTSync -- it's free and safe and about 5MB -- from
http://www.getsync.com/download

When you've installed the app, you'll just be asked to accept the EULA, and then you're good to go.

Hit the cog icon and then "enter a key"

Enter this key in the box:

and click Next

(screenshot shows the URL below, not the key, because I'm an idiot...)

Or you can follow this URL to run the installer and/or start the sync in one fell swoop:
https://link.getsync.com/#f=Volvo-HU...DJ745XGDXBLEVU

Then just leave the PC running for a day or two, if you can. If you turn off the PC, no biggie, it'll carry on downloading the next time you switch on (as long as you set it to run on startup when you installed it). Keep an eye on the BTSync icon in the system tray as it'll show you how far through sync it is.

How BTSync works.... it uses Bittorrent, so as you download each part of the files, the parts are automatically shared with everyone else who's downloading them ("peers"). It's totally safe & secure & reasonably anonymous, as others can ONLY access the files that you chose to download from others in the first place. The more of us download & share these files, the more of us therefore are sharing it, and so the faster it is for everyone to download it after us. It'll take a while to download the first time, but by the time a few of us have the files on our PCs, it should be faster for everyone else.

(You don't have to put it in its own unique folder, but I always do that to keep it separate from my own stuff.)

For most of us with broadband you can just leave it sharing 24x7. I'm leaving this sharing on my PC 24x7 until further notice so there will always be one copy / source available.

Files are approx 2GB in total.

If anyone needs the user manual scanning, I have mine and I can do that for you.

Are you goona flog em for mere mortals like me bm lol.you cant do much with a iPad lol.i am getting a laptop when my contract comes to a end

I have a CD writer and LOADS of blank CDRs, so I could have a go, but the CDRs are quite old, so I've no idea if they will still work?

I use Google Maps on my phone, and an AA road atlas, so I've no interest in the CDROMs myself! Just providing a service to the forum. Although as Gatos pointed out recently, it'd be handy to have the CDs in the car in case of emergency so I'll give it a go and let you know if it works.

If it does I can send you a copy of them for 80p so it's not like I'll want to be selling them....! I hate people who profit from piracy. Just trying to undermine the shifty pirate market.

Have you had a look to see if there's a BTSync app for iPad? There's one for Android

Also worth mentioning that if you have multiple PCs/laptops then BTSync is an excellent way to make sure that they all have copies of the same files on them. You can just share the key with "yourself" if your folders are private. I've used it to share files with friends, it's excellent.

MS Office and Windows 8 comes with a similar thing called "OneDrive" which is also free and works in a similar way, but the "master" copy of those files are stored remotely on Microsoft servers, which can be accessed by the NSA amongst other national security agencies.... not so great for your personal files, especially if you're a t3rr0r1st or a p43do...

There's also DropBox, Google Drive and other services but they tend not to be so open

OK, I finally got the files uploaded to my web space. Had to zip & split them into 100MB chunks. If you download all eight files, put them in the same folder, and then extract from the .zip file, it should unzip from the other parts automatically.

RTI date

Do you know what date these CDs are? I think the ones I have are from around 2006 so there's no point me changing to these unless they are more recent.
