Front suspension struts

Hi there I want to find out if you can buy a complete front strut assembly for a v70 r 1997 ready to just install with Spring aswell? Saves me a lot of hassle.
Regards
Dan

For full strut either complete used ones or coilovers

You can get used on ebay, do you need to replace the springs or the dampers?
If you decide to get used, make sure they are in good condition or you'll be back to where you started...I would also suggest trying to get two from the same car

I refreshed some strut components on both sides recently for a total outlay of around £120 for 2 x bearings, upper spring seats, upper and lower spring insulators and bump stops.
5 year old shocks were still good (enough) as were the original 17 year old springs with 205k miles on them.
Videos covering various things to look out for are on my YouTube channel.

Different car but it's still a Macpherson strut so the principles are the same.

The spring shape is different on the P80 chassis cars to the P2 chassis cars. On the P2s you can release the spring tension without fitting the upper bearing. On the P80 cars you need to have the upper bearing and cap/washer fitted before you release the spring tension. Other than that it's basically the same process. It doesn't take much to assemble struts and you can do it fairly easily without prior experience if you take your time. The most important thing is that you buy a good set of spring compressors. They aren't something you want to be skimping on.

Hi all. There's too much travel on the front shocks and the left bearing is groaning a little when steering. So I'll change all apart from the springs.
Thanks
which shocks does anyone recommend?
Dan

If you're on a budget and if there's a version available for yours, I've been very happy with the Meyle shocks I fitted for £88 for the pair.
Otherwise, I'd recommend Bilstein or Sachs.
