Where to buy Castrol Edge Professional V 0W-20 oil?

According to the Owner's Manual, the D4 engine in my S80 needs Castrol Edge Professional V 0W-20 engine oil. This seems like a specialist oil as I can't find it on the usual sites that I would at for oil.

Is Volvo the only source of this oil?

I just want to keep a litre handy in case I ever need a top-up.

I understand about a max top-up of 500ml and to never go above 3/4 on the (electronic) dipstick.

are you sure it's not 0w 30?

I think it should be 0w-30 as well. My D5 uses Castrol and I get it from Opie Oils. Contact them, very helpful bunch of people

The Owner's Manual says this:

Quote:

Castrol Edge Professional V 0W-20 or VCC RBS0-2AE 0w20

Owners manuals are not always correct. My handbook states BOT 341 transmission oil - it is beyond doubt JWS 3309.

That is correct for the 4 cylinder VEA D4 engine , it is not " 0w/20 OR ...." . there is only one specification oil for this engine and it is :

0W/20 to volvo specification VCC RBS0-2AE

That is volvo's own new oil specification much like how the Germans do it .

You can buy 1 litre and 4 litre Castrol bottles from the Dealer . Castrol were the first to supply it . TOTAL have recently released it , but not sure if they do retail packs , just 205 litre drums for the trade i expect .

Hokey dokey, I'll pick a litre bottle up from the dealer soon. I've always had a bit of oil at home for any car I've ever owned just in case I needed a top-up. I've rarely ever had to top up the engine oil in any car I've owned, but I've never had a diesel until now so am not sure if it will use up oil

If you ever get the top up message be very carefull , it is so easy to overfill, the sensor is very sensitive it can measure the difference of an egg cup full .. put in 100 ml then drive it, after 20 miles it will give the true reading , next journey add another 100 ml if needed etc .. better do it that way than overfill and have to drain the sump and oil filter out and put back exactly 5 litres to get the level correct .

I would just leave well alone unless car tells you to top it,

Done 5 or 6 now that have been topped up between services and put engine light on
