Change language from French on the computer ? XC90 2008

Hi, new user here,

I just bought a MY2008 2.4 XC90.
The car is LHD and originally from France, although now registered in the UK.
The language displayed on the computer is in French, I would like to change to German or Polish.
The dealer said it would cost £200.

Just for clarity it's the computer I need to change, I have already changed the Sat Nav on the options menu.

I just wondered if there were any other cheaper options ?

Based in London.

Many thanks for any help..

You have no other options

Only the Dealer can change the language, as a new software version (with all the language text) must be loaded in the DIM

Try and get a deal where they do it as part of the next service, or as part of an entire software update.
Shop around, different dealers may offer different prices.

That's a great advise! I had prices, that differ around 60% for the exact same, just a few kilometers (and in my case a border) apart. 200.-€ vs. 980.-€ for exactly the same service and software.

Try looking outside the UK, too. In NL you normally get good prices for all kinds of software updates. And you can do these updates whereever you want, thanks to EU regulations.

Oh, and while we are at it, take a look at "VDash". I can't say anything about it, just heard from it, but they seem to have some kind of newer software, where they can install software from Volvo to your car, and they are claiming, they are normally 66% cheaper than the Volvo dealers. Take a look here, and as you seem to speak German, take a look into the VDash-Thread at Motor-Talk, the normal Volvo subsection (not a specific model category).

Someone over there changed his instrument panel to a LCD version with VDash. Something Volvo itself can't do :o :o :o Maybe worth a look...
