C30 - Servicing - West Yorkshire

Hi all,

I have a 2011 C30 R-Design D2. Just ticking round to 68,000 miles so I was thinking about servicing (the dealer I bought it from did a service on it before I bought it around 8,000 miles ago).

Does anyone have any garages they've used in West Yorkshire (as close to Halifax as possible) who they'd recommend? Would it be advisable to use a Volvo specialist? And is there anything I should expect in terms of big bills at this age (car seems to run fine, never had any issues or warning lights etc).

In the past I've either had a car on a PCP with a service plan, or something so old I've just taken it to a local independent who works on anything!

Thanks in advance

Just make sure whoever you take it to knows what they are doing and are not head scratchers especially if you intend to keep the car for a long time.
It’s always worth getting a price from a dealer as they can sometimes be similar to an Indi and offer a discount for the older cars which brings it down to similar rates with an Indi.
Good luck finding somewhere.

I took mine to Rawse Motor Technicians in Bradford who seemed to do a good enough job of the engine swap in mine. Initially buggered it up but owned up to their mistake and got it picked up, and fixed on the same day.

I have the same engine in my V50 and do as much work as I can myself.

Servicing is really easy to do if you're handy with the spanners and I have a number of How To.. guides to help if you want them?

Saves quite a lot of cash doing it yourself as well.

Oil and filter - £30 or so
Fuel Filter - £30 or so
Air Filter - upgrade to a foam filter so can just be cleaned at every service rather than replaced. £30-£50 initial purchase.
Pollen filter - £15 or so

If you have no choice but to take it to a garage I would advise a Volvo specialist so they can reset the oil quality counter when the oil is changed amongst other things.

I've been using Craig Rawse in Bradford and never had any problems, guy seems genuine never gave me any reason for concern, only problem is having to go to bradford.

Thanks Petey - definitely not something I'd tackle myself (changing my dipped beam bulbs on each side is about my limit!)

I've booked it into Craig Rawse next week. Actually took it in a few weeks ago as I thought I had a water leak but all OK. They gave it a quick look over and said there's some cracking in the auxiliary belt so I'll get that done at the same time.

There's a bit of a whining noise too which seems to have got worse in the last week or so but I can't tell where it's coming from. Hopefully they'll be able to sort it and it won't be too expensive!

Never heard of this before, and I service my C30 myself. What is this counter used for? Is this something that can be reset through VIDA?

Thanks

Neither had I until I was having a look round Vida and found it.

Not sure what the counter is specifically for other than to tell the system fresh oil has been put in.
