PV door hinges and bonnet hinge colour.

Are they usually painted in body colour or black like the hinges on the boot?

Rub it in and wipe off the excess

Body colour for those, as the boot hinges should be.

I'm surprised the bonnet hinge is done in body colour - that design is not exactly scratch resistant - just a hole in a 3mm bit of steel flat with a rod threaded through

It might seem a bit sad but actually because the back of the workshop is the back of the workshop things don't need to be moved about so much - before you know it the Volvo will be hoisted up onto axle stands and parts will be slowly fitted (with any luck)

I have high hopes - so high in fact that when I got an email informing me about discounted oil I went a bit crazy and bought half the shop =>

The Kroon oil (that I like shown in the picture above) rarely gets discounted across the range so that was a billy bonus - like the Dutch say "nu of nooit"

I've decided to do it the "Volvo" way - as suggested on this forum. I'm not sure if it'll work.

As far as I can understand the Volvo way is the proper way in which it is meant to be done - but - this way is the way that might damage the trim (even more than it is already). The "Mercedes way" is to fit the trim to the seal before fitting the window seal and trim in one go to the car.

So anyway this is attempt #1

Now I've got to find the missing windscreen fitting tool...

Looked high and low for the beading installation tool - went online to find what a replacement would cost - found out that even if I find it it is not for use with metal filler sections...

...so - window back out - fit metal trim to seal before fitting the glass seems to be the way forward.

You did it right first.

Rubber to window and both together into the car.

Bend the chrome parts good enough. They should look as to be in place.
No special tool needed. A rope, thinner than your green one.
Rope into the groove of the rubber.
Place the chrome symmetrical. Fix it with tape.
Pull the rope and press slightly the chrome in at same time.
The same s h i t at Amazons and 140/164.
No fun, no fun since I do work on old Volvos.
I'm able to do the job by my own, withough a helper.
Way more easy with a helper, nevertheless. If the helper is very calmly, a nervous one isn't a helper.
The way you try, all together in, will bent the chrome even more than its bent now.
