This time I'm after information about the metal and rubber cappings that sit on top of the sills of the PV544

I believe the correct part numbers for the PV are 660157 and 660158 for the left hand and right hand sides respectively.

I've heard that the Amazon 2 door model is quite close in shape so I was wondering if the much cheaper Amazon cappings can be successfully fitted (perhaps with small modifications) to a PV?

(The Amazon equivalents seem to be part numbers 655189 and 655190)

Er - sorry - but I beg to differ! 150 euros a side seems to me to be rather expensive especially when the Amazon 2 door sill trims (which I assume are of a similar length) are often sold for about half the price.

I have seen good second hand versions of the 2 door Amazon sill trims for sale for about 30 euros a piece which if they fit / can be easily made to fit isn't such a hole in the budget (that went out the window about half way through July 2018!)

You're right, I made an error in the currency conversion

The sill plates for the 2 cars are completely different. Rubber moulding originally for the PV and pressed alloy for the Amazon. The Amazons don't wear out so plenty of them around. The PV rubber ones get very ratty with age and have long been unavailable. That's the main reason the repros are expensive, and they say they are made from plastic. The chance of finding good originals is small but you might get lucky. I think you'll find that the originals and the repros look rather different but with new paint, scruffy rubber ones might not look the part.

I realise the Amazon ones are different especially in terms of looks - but are they more or less the same shape? Will they fit (even a bit)?

Basic answer is no but with a bit of cutting and trimming you might get something that doesn't look too bad. Would be cheap to try if you just get one side as a test piece.

My first PV had these missing, and I made something adequate out of ribbed rubber sheet, not perfect, but cheap, and better than nothing.

If the basic answer is no then perhaps I need to try and make something before destroying good parts that someone else could use where they are meant to be used.
