Sporadic Cut outs

Hi all,

Just after a bit of advice folks ... I have a XC70 D5 2013 (just clocked 59,000) ... usually no issues at all but on a recent long trip up North ... I noticed that the electrics were going off as the car was in motion and engine running. Various warning lights on dash quickly flash once on then off ... Everything is back to normal within 1 or 2 seconds - its like a 'shorting' electrical issue but radio, mileage etc are all back to normal (nothing is reset) - since this happened a few weeks ago, I've now noticed it on a few more occasions just driving around the doors. Could it just be a battery or alternator issue ????
I thought I'd ask if any members had any similar experiences before I approach Volvo

Ever had the windscreen replaced?
Windscreen bonding issues are common (from factory) and water gets into where it shouldn't - not sure what year it was rectified but yours may be affected. I believe Volvo honour the labour but will charge you for a windscreen if they smash it in the process. Might be worth going via insurance.

This thread is running parallel. Perhaps worth looking at. https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=311796

Did the engine continue to run? It doesn't without electric/electronic control, so if it did, then the complete electric system didn't die.
There were issues with Volvos of this model stopping mid-run. If the car has been serviced at authorized workshops, that should be taken care of by now.

But if it's "just" the dashboard that goes out, then it's something else. Leaks could be well worth investigating. I've had my windshield replaced (MY 2012), but it hasn't been needed on our other XC70 (MY2016).
